All Week: ScratchJr — Movement and Dance

Happy Scratch Week! ScratchJr will be celebrating all week long by focusing on movement and dance! What does movement mean to you? Do you have a favorite sport? A go-to dance move? We invite you to make a ScratchJr project that showcases your favorite way to move your body!

Looking for ideas? You could program… A race between characters, a dance party, or a story about a time when you were playing your favorite sport!

May 20: Tinker with Fashion

Hello and welcome to the final day of Scratch Week! In this studio we invite you to explore creative expression through Fashion! You could make dress-up games using your favorite fashion styles, tutorials on how to design your own clothing or accessories, design pattern makers, invite others into the fashion of your culture, or whatever else you can imagine!

Looking for ideas to get started?

  • What’s your style? Make a project that showcases your unique style from your culture.
  • Play with fashion! If you would create one new fashion item what would it be?
  • Fashion Show! Design your own clothing line and share it with us in a project.
  • Future of Fashion! What will people wear in the year 3000?

Remember, these are only suggestions! You are welcome to come up with your own ideas as well, or take inspiration from projects already in the studio!

May 19: Bees, Trees, & Seas: The Nature Studio

Wherever you see a bee, a tree, or the sea… that is nature. Nature includes everything in our world created by the earth: plants, animals, fungi, cells, rivers, mountains, the sky, clouds, storms, the rock cycle, and many more natural wonders! In this studio, we invite you to share projects that take us on a journey through nature.

Looking for ideas to get started?

  • Animate a story about the daily life of a bee (or a lion, or a plant, or any part of nature!)
  • Create a photo album of some nature near you: it could be a park, an animal, a plant, or anything else from the natural world!
  • Create a tutorial to help others learn about the water cycle
  • Create a simulation of your favorite type of weather
  • Create something you wish existed in nature
  • Design your own piece of nature! It could be a park, a garden, or whatever else you can imagine.
  • Make a project to help encourage people to go outside!

Remember, these are only suggestions! You are welcome to come up with your own ideas as well, or take inspiration from projects already in the studio!
